İslam inancının temel ibadeti olan namazın çağrısı ezan, müziğin haram olduğunu iddia edenlere rağmen müezzinlerin sanatsal yorumlarıyla icra ediliyor. Belgesel, yarışmanın rekabet atmosferiyle birlikte İslam kültüründeki bireysellik fenomenine müezzinlerin kendi hayatları ve müzikle kurdukları ilişkiye bakarak değiniyor. This documentary was shot in Istanbul by Austrian director Sebastian Brameshuber, who came to Istanbul following sufi music, after he heard verses from the Quran sung in hip hop songs. Since the time of the Prophet Mohammed, faithful Muslims have heeded the muezzin’s call to prayer five times a day. A more recent phenomenon is the Turkish call to prayer contests. Each year, the country’s muezzins compete, and their powerful expressivity proves that muezzins are a special kind of artists. Muezzin follows the dramatic progress of the competition and investigates the phenomenon of individuality within Islamic culture.
